We care about our outstanding services, both in community care and supported living,
where people choose the place they live and how they share their accommodation
Principle house is a 6 bed house for adults with a learning disability in the village of Walkford near to New Milton, Highcliffe and Christchurch
We are near the local sandy beaches and the beautiful New Forest. The sailing town of Lymington and its ferries to the Isle of Wight are only 20 minutes away.
The people that live at Principle House are involved in a variety of activities and organisations, both locally and further afield.
Some go to college, others to pubs/cafes, along with music venues and the many fine restaurants.
We are all involved in our local village and we all recognise that our voice is both wanted and valuable.
One of our support workers, Kelly Wigmore said, “Each of the people we support is unique and want their own life and have their own hopes, dreams and aspirations. Since I have been here it has been lovely, especially to be welcomed into a strong team of staff and made to feel so welcome. It honestly feels that I have worked here for years and every day is different and I love it. It’s rewarding everyday hearing and seeing the residents access the community and attend local activities and then returning with a story to share and a success to celebrate”
One of the people who lives at Principle said, “I love my life” another said that, “If I ask my staff always want to support me”
A recent survey of the people living at Principle showed that the support offered was of a good quality and in line with the choices of the residents

“I was made to feel very welcome when I visited the service, and was impressed at the homeliness and ‘atmosphere’ of the home, it felt positive and friendly. The positive support and input from yourself and your team enabled us all to ensure that our client was at the centre of our discussions and that his needs were at all times paramount.

I would like to thank you and your team for welcoming me yesterday.
It has been very informative for me and I had the opportunity to learn and practice so much. I really appreciated how friendly you all were. Although I was initially quite nervous due to having limited experience with PMLD population, you and the rest of the team eased me in and showed me how you care for all your residents.
I also noticed how personalised care can be delivered in such a respectful manner in a residential setting. It was really inspirational to see how all your staff work with residents in such a caring way and the amount of knowledge they have about the specific needs of every individual. Within a short period of time, I was able to observe a professional, friendly and caring attitude from all the staff. This clearly makes all the residents feel at home and at ease.
Thank you so much for allowing me to practice key nursing skills whilst providing guidance. It has been a really great day for me.
